About

I was born and raised in Oakland CA where I was fortunate enough to attend the Berkeley Children’s Art Studio as a child which gave me confidence as an artist and respect for the process of creating. My parents were from England and  I spent much of my youth over there, mostly in Sussex. I studied art history, drawing, and sculpture/studio at UCSB. I trained under master printmakers Kazuko Wantanabe and Emmanuel Montoya at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, where I did my residency.

I work primarily in reduction linocut which I hand press in limited editions—mostly one-of-a-kind. My work is in private collections in the UK and across the US and is available online at https://www.gallerysaro.com/

I regularly teach linocut workshops and a weekly printmaking studio class at the Mendocino Art Center. I recently completed a 2-year stint teaching linocut to artists with developmental disabilities at Art Explorers in Fort Bragg, CA. Much of my work and contact info is on my Instagram site: https://www.instagram.com/nicholas_collins_printmaker
