Matching Grant to Support the New Day Program Ends 6/1/2016

Pacific Art League has the tremendous opportunity to partner with Downtown Streets Team and New Directions in a program called New Day. The New Day program provides access to skill-building activities such as gardening, cooking, and arts and crafts for people newly housed from homelessness. We aim to help Team Members find purpose, access services, and reconnect with their community. They will be joining us here at PAL one day a week for regular art classes.

Studies conducted by the National Endowment for the Arts have shown time and again that participation in art-making helps with depression and anxiety as well as building community.

We have received a matching grant challenge from Steven Oliver, of Oliver and Company--the company who remodeled our beautiful space. As a newly-appointed member of the California Arts Council, Mr. Oliver was so impressed with New Day that he pledged a matched gift; For every $2 we raise to support this program, he will contribute an additional $1.

As an added incentive, Mr. Oliver has offered a tour of the Oliver Ranch to those members of our community who support this program with a gift of $500 or more, so if it is within your means to do so, it would be greatly appreciated. However, any amount is appreciated, and is well-worth the investment in our community.
