Pacific Art League

Robin Welles brightened up a room simply by her presence. Her laugh was infectious and her heart immense. Her dedication to PAL and love of art were legendary.

A few months ago the Pacific Art League inaugurated The Robin Welles Fund for Artistic Excellence.  Its mission is to honor Robin and her commitment to sharing the love of art with those with talent and drive, but without the financial ability to partake in many programs.  The inaugural gift was from an artist who donated her prize money from a PAL exhibition to support Robin’s vision and sense of inclusion in the arts for all.

In the short time since its inception the fund has already benefitted many young artists. Support from the Fund, along with grants and individual contributions, has helped PAL serve over 170 children and teens with quality art classes and workshops in the neighborhoods of Redwood City and East Palo Alto, where 90% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

Robin would be thrilled to learn how her vision has given access to these programs for several budding artists. Their words speak volumes.

“When I was drawing this painting, I felt like a real artist. When I saw my painting, I felt really proud of myself. I learned that you can mix a lot of colors so you can make more colors.” Ociel, M. Grade 6

“I felt like I was happy to draw people and make them look real. When I look at it, I felt like I can do anything.” Nathan A. Grade

With your gift to Robin’s Fund her legacy will carry on.
