Artist's Statement

For me, making a painting is a process of selection, vision, and artistic craftmanship.    

When I select my subject, it is because I feel a strong connection with it, whether it is a certain range of colors, notes of light and shadow, or something that I find beautiful or mysterious. Oftentimes, the connection is something that arouses a memory in me that I wish to share, such as a story of a unique place, the simple beauty of something common, or perhaps the beguiling action of an animal. My goal is then to express my unique vision via the art of painting, which is in itself a life-long study.       

In the end, I hope to share my own vision with the viewer, even if only with a little nudge. My hope is that my paintings cause us all to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of our surroundings just a little more.
