Support Art in the Community
Contribute to positive outcomes for at-risk communities
PAL's mission to advance the expression, appreciation and enjoyment of the arts for ALL includes outreach programs in our vulnerable and under-served communities. Our art programs provide therapeutic expressive art and build cultural awareness through arts education. We serve children in Northern California via our DREAMS program, Boys and Girls Club, and The Bill Wilson Center programs.
PAL’s future relies on our original mission of furthering the development of art in the community by creating opportunities for those who need it most. Research provides strong evidence that arts education experiences produce significant positive impacts on academic and social development. Your 100% tax deductible gift to the PAL Annual Fund will provide the needed funds to impact our most vulnerable populations.
If you would like to help us with this important mission, please consider donating.
Through creativity and expression, we can heal so much.
Bill Wilson Center
Expressive Art Program
In January of 2018, Pacific Art League launched a significant new “Expressive Art” program for youth at risk, partnering with Bill Wilson Centers (BWC) in three locations throughout Santa Clara County. Between 25-30 young people from high school age and into their early 20's enjoy creative classes and self expression on a weekly basis, taught by two experienced PAL teachers. We recruited instructors who have expressive art experience and know how to work with at risk youth in a caring and fun way.
"We are delighted to support a pioneering program of expressive art developed by The Pacific Art League, in close partnership with Bill Wilson Centers. This important program offers a much needed creative outlet for youth at risk in our district, young people who have had challenges in their lives and can find some positive and empowering solace, from art. We hope the program will continue to flourish and grow in future years.” - Supervisor Joe Simitian - District Five, County of Santa Clara

DREAMS
Design-based Approach to Common Core
DREAMS, stands for Design, Reading, Engineering, Art, Math and Science. It is a design-based program which utilizes an artistic approach to Common Core Curriculum, making material learned in the classroom relevant and fun. Art standards are combined with academic standards and their mutual importance is highlighted by projects students create.
DREAMS, has been designed by PAL instructor Dana Shields, who has pioneered this concept on a small scale, as a volunteer at Ravenswood School District. The purpose of the DREAMS program is threefold: to develop minds, engage hands and build cultural awareness through designing and creating artistic projects.
We Thank Our Program Supporters & Sponsors: A special thank you to the Rotary Club of Palo Alto for selecting DREAMS to be a 2019 grant recipient. DREAMS was one of the 10 organizations chosen by a committee of local Rotary volunteers in competition with nearly 50 other applicants. Rotary is a worldwide movement of business and professional men and women who network and build friends through community service. Additional funds for this program have been provided by Facebook, SVCreates, Rotary Clubs of Menlo Park and Palo Alto, and Fund-a-Need donations.
